The Daily Staff Journal or Duty Officer's Log,
prepared by the S3 of the 2d Bn 35th Inf contain the daily communications
between the battalion and each of its maneuver elements. Depending on
the events of the day, there may be as many as 15 pages of entries or as
few as 3 pages for days when little was taking place. With a good map
you should be able to track your movements in the field on a day by day
basis. Aside from After Action Reports, these journals give the most
detailed accounting of the events of a particular day.
WANT TO SEE A CERTAIN DATE?
E-mail me with your request and we'll see if we
have it on hand. An active search is underway to locate the journals
from our arrival in 1966 until our departure in late 1970. We will begin with
those dates that we have that contain information about the most
significant days. Thereafter, we'll fill in those other mundane
dates, you know the ones where you were just sniped at and carried a 30
pound ruck all day in 120 degree heat but lived to tell about it. |
