MAP SECTIONS

12 May 1967  154kb The Mortar Attack on LZ Liz occurred just under a month after the battalion arrived in the Duc Pho area of operations.  Sort of a welcome to the neighborhood from some of our local and not so local VC friends. 

27 to 29 May 1967  139kb The three day Battle of Tan Phong occurred on this terrain just 800 kilometers from LZ Liz.  During this engagement 116 VC lost their lives, 8 were captured in action and 119 detained.  American losses were 4 KIA and 27 WIA.

AO 1 Nov to 20 Dec 1967  348kb Operation Baker (part)  In the Duc Pho area, south of Quang Ngai.  LZ Liz, LZ Montezuma (aka Bronco), LZ OD, LZ Dragon, OP Tripoli, Duc Pho, Mo Duc.  

8 August 1967  54kb The Battle of An Ba involved elements of A Co, C Co and Recon.  This map is of the area of the battle with the 38th LF Battalion.

20 Aug 1967  38kb The Battle of An Thach was a classic battle of Tanks and its supporting Infantry against an outgunned foe.  Just north and inland from Duc Pho on the South China Sea.

AO 1 Nov to 20 Dec 1967  348kb Operation Baker (part)  In the Duc Pho area, south of Quang Ngai.  LZ Liz, LZ Montezuma (aka Bronco), LZ OD, LZ Dragon, OP Tripoli, Duc Pho, Mo Duc.

AO 20 Dec 1967 to 10 Jan 1968  215kb Operation Muscatine.  Just north of Duc Pho area shown above.  North and west of Quang Ngai city.  LZ Sue, LZ Uptight, QL1 (Hwy 1).

AO 10 Jan to 20 Mar 1968  304kb  Actually three separate AOs West of Que Son in the Antenna Valley the 2/35th was given the tasj of interdicting supply and communications lines of the NVA forces that attacked Que Son during Tet.  AOs are south and west of Hoi An.  LZ Ryder, LZ Ross, LZ Baldy, LZ Hardcore.

AO 20 to 26 Mar 1968  348kb Operation Champaign Under the Operational Control of the 11th Infantry the 2/35th worked this AO for a week in familiar territory south of Duc Pho.  LZ Thunder, LZ Geronimo. (repeat of 1 Nov to 20 Dec AO map).

AO 29 Mar to 30 Apr 1968  222kb  Back in the Kontum Mountains at Polei Klang west of Kontum City.  LZ Mile High, FSB 7.
