The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PVT William Henry Matthews, 39019527, who died in the service of his country on January 21st, 1943 in Guadalcanal. The cause of death was listed as KIA. At the time of his death William was 25 years of age. He was from Woodbine, Iowa.

The decorations earned by PVT William Henry Matthews include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
