The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SGT Hobart W. Weeks, 15010337, who died in the service of his country on September 11th, 1943 in Vella Lavella, Kokolope Bay. The cause of death was listed as KIA. At the time of his death Hobart was 25 years of age. He was from Cleveland, Ohio.

The decorations earned by SGT Hobart W. Weeks include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.


Hobart enlisted July 12, 1940 at Ft. Hayes, Columbus OH for the Hawaiian Department as an Infantryman.

Sgt Hobart W. Weeks was born October 21, 1918 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of Victor John Weeks Sr and Alma Henrietta Woike. He was killed in action during WWII in the Solomon Islands in the Pacific with the 35th infantry, 25th Div.

HOBARTS PARENTS: Alma Henrietta Weeks (nee Wolke) was born Jan 8, 1896 in Fremont, Ohio, the daughter of Andrew Woike and Rosa Thiel. She died June 12, 1972 age 76, at home in Cleveland, Ohio a WWII Gold Star Mother. She married June 3, 1916, Victor John Weeks Sr. He was born Nov 30, 1895 in Cleveland, the son of William Weeks & Anna Ott, died Wed. March 6, 1974, age 78.

Sgt Hobart Weeks funeral was Feb 19, 1949 at Spaulding Funeral Home, 2704 Denison Ave. Military services by William F. Marohn Post No. 1572, V.F.W. He was buried in Acacia Masonic Memorial Park Cemetery as were his parents.
