The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC Weldon Horace Young, who died in the service of his country on November 20th, 1966 in Kontum Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Small Arms/AW. At the time of his death Weldon was 21 years of age. He was from Buffalo, New York. Weldon is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 12E, Line 98.

The decorations earned by PFC Weldon Horace Young include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.

Young-Pfc Weldon H.
Of 64 Urban St, in Viet Nam, Nov 20, 1966. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Young, Grandson of Mrs. Tealy Young; brother of Mrs. Dorothy Slaughter and Miss Barbara Young; also survived by eight uncles, three aunts, nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Meadows Brothers Funeral Home, 466 E. Utica St. Funeral Thursday at 1 P.M. from Friendship Baptist Church. The family will be present from 7-9 P.M. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends invited.

Pfc Weldon H Young, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Young, 64 Urban Street, Buffalo, has been killed in action in Vietnam.
Pfc Young was born in Buffalo and attended McKinley High School. Before entering the army last February, the young man was employed by the William Hengerer Company.
He began his military training at Fort Dix, New Jersey and later was transferred to Fort Gordon, GA. Shortly before leaving for Vietnam on August 5th, Pfc. Young visited his family here.
He is survived by his parents and two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Slaughter and Miss Barbara Young.

Weldon is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo, NY. He is buried within sight of William J Mack, HHC,1/35th, KIA 01-20-1967.
