The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, CPL John William Smith, RA19334217, who died in the service of his country on September 3rd, 1950 in South Korea. The cause of death was listed as KIA. At the time of his death John was 21 years of age. He was from Provo, Utah. John's Military Occupation Specialty was 62c-Food Service Apprentice.

The decorations earned by CPL John William Smith include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Silver Star, the Bronze Star with V, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.


Corporal Smith was a member of the 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on September 3, 1950. Corporal Smith was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantrymans Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Born in Homestead, Pennsylvania, family moved to Provo, Utah where he enlisted in 1948. He was known as "Jack."
