The cause of death was listed as MIA to KIA. At the time of his death John was 20 years of age. He was from Ojai, California. John's Military Occupation Specialty was 4745-Light Weapons Infantryman.

The decorations earned by PV2 John Edward Quick include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

I knew John Quick as a friend, as a school mate as a horseman, and above all a patriot to our country. H e was classified as 4-F and was not accepted into the Air Force, Navy or Marines. He Enlisted in the US Army, and was sent right away to South Korea, where he was in some of the most brutal action of the war. I have missed him and think about him often. I hope to see you again when I cross the river. Your Buddy, Jack Thompson
