The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC Claude Joseph Stein, who died in the service of his country on December 8th, 1967 in Quang Nam Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Booby Trap. At the time of his death Claude was 20 years of age. He was from Vacherie, Louisiana. Claude is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 31E, Line 67.

The decorations earned by PFC Claude Joseph Stein include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.


Buried in the Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Vacherie, LA. Vacherie is located in St. James Parish about half way between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Take Exit 194 off of I-10 and go south about 10 miles to Vacherie. The cemetery is located next to Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Go south out of Vacherie on Rt 20 about 2 miles to the intersection with Rt 644. Turn East (left) onto Rt 644 and go about 2 miles to the cemetery (church) at 13281 Highway 644.
