The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SP4 Richard Charles Ferdig, who died in the service of his country on August 4th, 1967 in Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Booby Trap While Exploring Tunnel. At the time of his death Richard was 22 years of age. He was from Frederic, Wisconsin. Richard is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 24E, Line 77.

The decorations earned by SP4 Richard Charles Ferdig include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Parachute Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.

when uncle claude and aunt mable, were cleaning out, they came across these boots. i was, in high school, at the time. everyone else, was wearing tennis shoes, at the time. i wore, Chucks shoes and was proud, to tell the story, including the hash marks, on the tongue.
