The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SP4 Michael Owen Barrett, who died in the service of his country on July 1st, 1967 in Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Small Arms/AW. At the time of his death Michael was 20 years of age. He was from Atlanta, Georgia. Michael is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 22E, Line 90.

The decorations earned by SP4 Michael Owen Barrett include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Parachute Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.


Michael is buried in the Marietta National Cemetery in Marietta, GA., Plot U 304. Cemetery Address is 500 Washington Ave. Marietta, GA. Marietta is located just northwest of Atlanta. The cemetery is on loop 120 just west of exit 263 of I-75.

Barrett, Mr. James Mitchell, Mr. Ronald Barrett, Master Bruce Barrett, brothers; Mrs. Brenda Boyd, sister, are invited to attend the funeral services of Sp. 4 Michael O. Barrett Monday, July 10, 1967, at 1 p.m. from Beulah Baptist Church, 170 Griffin St. NW, Rev. W.L. Cottrell officiating, with full military honors. Interment, Marietta National Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 12 p.m. until the hour of the funeral and will not be viewed after the eulogy.
