The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SFC James Chadwell Slemp, RA13165068, who died in the service of his country on March 29th, 1951 in South Korea. The cause of death was listed as KIA. At the time of his death James was 21 years of age. He was from Big Stone Gap, Virginia. James' Military Occupation Specialty was 1745-Light Weapons Infantry Leader.

The decorations earned by SFC James Chadwell Slemp include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Silver Star, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.


Sergeant First Class Slemp was a member of the 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on March 29, 1951. Sergeant First Class Slemp was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantrymans Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal. He was known as "Jake"
