The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SGT Ralph Leonard Coufal, ER37747058, who died in the service of his country on June 6th, 1951 in North Korea. The cause of death was listed as KIA. At the time of his death Ralph was 26 years of age. He was from Scotia, Nebraska. Ralph's Military Occupation Specialty was 1745-Light Weapons Infantry Leader.

The decorations earned by SGT Ralph Leonard Coufal include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.


Ralph also served in WWII.

"My father was killed on Okinawa in May 1, 1945 he was in a foxhole next to Ralph at the time. Near Chocolate Drop hill. Ralph at the time pfc Coufal tried to save him after he had be shot, but it was too late."
