The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, 2LT Andrew Gurdine Hansen Jr, O2263214, who died in the service of his country on September 21st, 1951 in North Korea. The cause of death was listed as KIA. At the time of his death Andrew was 28 years of age. He was from Lake Of The Woods County, Minnesota. Andrew's Military Occupation Specialty was 1542.

For his outstanding leadership, he was given a battlefield promotion to second lieutenant. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on September 21, 1951. Second Lieutenant Hansen was awarded the Purple Heart with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
