The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC William Essie Embry, who died in the service of his country on December 4th, 1967 in Unknown Location, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Malaria. At the time of his death William was 24 years of age. He was from Heyworth, Illinois. William is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 31E, Line 34.

The decorations earned by PFC William Essie Embry include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.

Pfc. William E Embry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Essie Embry of Heyworth, died in Vietnam December 4th according to word received by his parents. Death was attributed to cerebral malaria.

Private Embry was born September 16, 1943 and entered the service in April 1967. He received training at Fort Knox and left for Vietnam October 1, 1967.

Surviving besides his parents are two sisters: Mrs., Robert Porter in New Jersey and Wanita at home. Three brothers: David with the Army in Virginia, Daniel in Wapella, IL, and Samuel at home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Iseminger Funeral Home with Reverend Eugene Gray officiating. Burial was in Long Point cemetery with military graveside rites.
