The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SSG Marvin Westley Gunder, who died in the service of his country on April 23rd, 1944 in Burma. The cause of death was listed as Illness. At the time of his death Marvin was 21 years of age. He was from Idaho.

The decorations earned by SSG Marvin Westley Gunder include: the Silver Star, the Purple Heart, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.


Marvin served with F Co from 1940 through 1943. He then joined Merrills Mauraders where he died of malaria in 1944 in Burma. He is buried in the Punchbowl in Honolulu.
He was awarded the Silver Star.

Marvin spent most of his life in Morton County North Dakota
