The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PVT Nicholas F. D'Alessio, 6982843, who died in the service of his country on January 10th, 1943 in Guadalcanal. The cause of death was listed as KIA. At the time of his death Nicholas was 22 years of age. He was from Carteret, New Jersey.

The decorations earned by PVT Nicholas F. D'Alessio include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.

CARTERET - The death in action, learned here on Saturday, of twenty-three year old Nicholas DAlessio raises to eight the total of men from Carteret who have died in the war. The War Department notified the mans parents, Mr. and Mrs. Angel DAlessio of 48 Warren Street he had been killed in action in January 10.

He enlisted in the army about three years ago and saw service in the Philippine Islands.

Nicholas was born in Port Reading, but grew up in Carteret. He was known as a boxer of above the average ability and appeared in matches in Carteret sponsored by the Young Mens Club of St. Josephs parish. While in the Philippines he appeared in army bouts and regularly sent the wages home to his parents.

His father conducts a tavern at the Warren Street address.
