The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC Howard Wilkerson Putman, 34707677, who died in the service of his country on April 9th, 1945 in Luzon. The cause of death was listed as KIA. At the time of his death Howard was 21 years of age. He was from Decatur, Alabama.
The decorations earned by PFC Howard Wilkerson Putman include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Howard entered the Army March 4, 1943. Formerly he was an employee of the Goodyear Mills in Decatur.
He was survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Putman and two sisters, Mrs. Gattis Moses and Mrs. S.R. Barbee, both of Decatur.
