The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC William Morgan Hawkins, who died in the service of his country on September 13th, 1950 in South Korea. The cause of death was listed as KIA. At the time of his death William was 23 years of age. He was from Ohatchee, Alabama.

The decorations earned by PFC William Morgan Hawkins include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Comments: Private First Class Hawkins was apparently listed as a member of the 29th Infantry Regimental Combat Team, but that unit was retired on or before September 4, 1950, and he was apparently assigned to another unknown unit. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on September 13, 1950. The 29th was attached to the 19th Infantry Regiment from July 28th through September 4, 1950. He was know as "Pete." Reassigned to 35th Infantry Regiment.
