Unit locations: At LZ Joan YA841251, Battalion Headquarters (Forward), C Battery 2/9 Artillery, C Battery (-) 7/15 Artillery GS, E Company, Counter Mortar Section 2/9 artillery; 1st Platoon D Co 4th Engineers Battalion, Mobile Dental Clinic from the 4th Medical Battalion; At LZ Jean YA809232; A Company 1/35, 1 CSF platoon from the Special Forces Camp at Duc Co, 1 AN/TPS-25 section from Division artillery, Counter Mortar Section from the 4/42 Artillery; At LZ Vera YA835178, C Company 1/35 OPCON to 3/8 Infantry; At LZ Oasis; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward); At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear).
B Company 1/35 OPCON to 1/14 Inf at grid YA788177 conducting a sweep to the southwest of LZ Vera. D Company OPCON to 2/8 Inf at grid YA830149 is conducting a sweep to the southwest of LZ Vera. B Company returned to the control of the 1/35 Inf upon closing LZ Joan at 1620 hours. C, B and D Companies were informed to be prepared to go OPCON to 2/8 Inf 30 November 1968. B Co will C/A to grid ZA195354, D Company will C/A to grid ZA181303, operation to last approximately three (3) days.
1010 hours (C) Headhunter 41 checked the above grids for LZ's 832306 will land about 10-15 ships; 831279 will land 7-9 rounds after the daisy-cutters are dropped; 839332 will land unlimited amount of ships with a couple of grass-burners put in before hand.
1220 hours (C) message from Major Royal to Lt. Flanagan: OP order to be passed briefly to A, B, C, D, mission changed to A Co: You will be prepared to close out of LZ Jean by 1 December 1968, have one platoon ready to go to LZ Joan to maintain it, you will also construct a new firebase northwest of Plei Djerang by 2 December 1968, plan to get rid of some of your ammunition tonight (106 Recoilless Rifle). To B Company: You will be continuing to move with a Headhunter overhead to grid 798223 at which time you will come under our control and work on our frequency and continue to come to LZ Joan whereupon you will prepare to be lifted out to be OPCON to 2/8 Inf, take 3 days rations and 1 81mm mortar tube, your LZ will be at grid 210345, your contact on the LZ will be 8191 on frequency of 65.60, your mission will be to set up a blocking force east of the operational area. An overlay of the area will be at the LZ. Maps will be here when you come to our location. To C Co: Be prepared to evacuate LZ Vera ASAP, you will come under the control of 2/8 Inf this afternoon (time to be announced), take 3 days rations and 1 81mm mortar tube and enough ammunition for the usual stay of this type. Your excess equipment will be back-hauled to LZ Joan, your LZ when you C/A will be at grid 210345, your contact will be 8191 on a frequency of 65.60, your mission along with B Co will be to establish a blocking position on the east side of the operational area, an overlay of the LZ will be available when you get there, maps will be given to you by the 3/8, if they do not give them to you we will provide the maps. To D Co: Continue to move to LZ Vera and upon closing you will be OPCON to 3/8 Inf. S-2: Have maps ready for the area west of LZ Sharmaine and LZ Puma, acetate 2 sets 1/150 and 1/100.
1430 hours (C) Changes: A Co; will prepare to accept D Co tonight and plan to still EVAC Jean, need to know if A Co can supply D Co with 3 days of supply of C-rations and hot chow for them tonight. B Co: Continue to move to LZ Joan and stay there for tonight, C/A tomorrow. C Co: C Co stay at LZ Vera tonight and tomorrow disregard the previous plan. D Co: C/A to LZ Jean tonight and go OPCON to 2/8 tomorrow, same plans for C Co apply presently.
