Summary: Log opened at 0001 hours 14 December 1968. Unit locations: At LZ Joan YA841251, Battalion Headquarters (Forward), A Company 1/35, E (-) Company, 3rd platoon D Company 4th Engineers Battalion, counter mortar section from the 2/9 artillery; At LZ MaryEtta YA763491; B Company, 1 CSF platoon from the new Special Forces Camp at Plei Djerang; At LZ Betty YA905505; C Company, 1 CSF platoon from the new Special Forces Camp at Plei Djerang; At LZ Lanetta YA853457; E Company Recon platoon, 2 CSF platoons from the new Special Forces Camp at Plei Djerang; OPCON units; D Company OPCON 2/1 Cav; At LZ Oasis; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward); At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear). No significant activities occurred in the area of operation during the reporting period. 1335 hours (C) A Co 1st platoon is at grid 834250 at this location found a small trail with various types of US paraphernalia, 1 case of M-16, 1 case of M-79, some gauges (unknown) looks like a 4-5 man setup in that location, was a small tank trail, also looked as though they had to leave in a hurry, a lot of garbage left in the area. 1830 hours (C) Readout of A Co sweep: YA836245 found string 25 feet long and 6 inches off the ground across the tank trail, at 834250 found ammunition M-16, M-79, personal letters and other gear from the artillery unit, found a possible mortar position dug recently, also found 2 sticks, one forked and the other lying across it if put on an azimuth of 180 degrees it would point towards the airstrip, bushes had been pulled down around it and lead to overhead cover. At grid 849257 found US periscope serial number 4613837243, found Vietnamese newspaper.
