(C) Contingency plans: Be prepared to airlift from current AO upon 2 hour notice to an AO to be announced.

1635 hours (C) From CO 1/35th To CO 3d Bde: 1. Due to the amount of rice involved and indecision on the part of GVN officials, progress in identifying, bagging and evacuation of VC rice in B Co area has been slow. 2. Rice evacuation will not be completed prior to 1200 hours 5 May. 3. Battalion is scheduled to move beginning 1700 hours. 4. We request instruction regarding disposition of rice that cannot be moved prior to the time the Bn is moved. This needs an acknowledgement from Bde S-3. Messaged was acknowledged from Bde S03 at 1700 hours.

1700 hours (C) From CO B Co to S-3: I have enough bags presently at both locations to bag all rice. I am clear out of 61's location by dark. 4 aircraft are available at 62's location and there are 4 tons of rice in scattered hooch's. It will take me until 1500 hours tomorrow using all available troops to extract from 62's location.

1705 hours (C) To all Co's: 1. Present operation terminates at 041800. 2. Units will be airlifted to the Oasis or a new AO at 051000 from 2 LZ's. 3. A, B and D will be lifted from LZ 248088. 1830 hours (C) From B Co CO to S-3: The 1st plt. Has completed their bagging of rice and they have estimated 1 heavy slick load. The 2nd platoon has bagged 1000 lbs. and have about 4 tons yet to bag; they estimate being finished 051500 May 69.

2030 hours (C) From D Co CO to S-3: The 2nd plt. Has an EM that should be dusted off tomorrow at the first sign of light. He was bitten by a bee on the left ankle yesterday and became numb on his entire left side. He was given rest today but he is very weak and has a bad headache. The Dust-Off will need a jungle penetrater as it will take too long for the 2nd plt to clear an LZ. This will make almost impossible for them to reach the objective on time.
