On May 13, 1970, upon the return from operations inside Cambodia, a tragedy befell the men of the 2/35th. The Chinook carrying members of Alpha and Bravo Company crashed on landing, resulting in the deaths of two Bravo Company men, Lt. Charles Bazzinotti and Sp4. Paul Ramos. Two others from supporting units were also KIA and more then 25 men were WIA in this accident.
