The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC Richard F. LaBarbera, who died in the service of his country on June 24th, 1966 in Pleiku Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Small Arms/AW. At the time of his death Richard was 21 years of age. He was from Freeport, New York. Richard is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 08E, Line 87.

The decorations earned by PFC Richard F. LaBarbera include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.


Richard is buried at Long Island National Cemetery, Section R, Site 957.

Rick was a great guy. We were friends from Freeport and did a lot of drag racing. He will always remain a fellow soldier who always tried his best at everything. Remember "Bits and Pieces".
