The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SFC Walter Alfred Mattson, RA06569380, who died in the service of his country on August 6th, 1950 in South Korea. The cause of death was listed as KIA. At the time of his death Walter was 33 years of age. He was from Spokane County, Washington. Walter's Military Occupation Specialty was 2745-Light Weapons Infantry Leader.

The decorations earned by SFC Walter Alfred Mattson include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star with V, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.


Walter was a WWII veteran.

Originally from Evansville, Minnesota, worked in Canada, settled in Spokane, Washington, where he enlisted in the Army in 1936.
