The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC Leon Beard, who died in the service of his country on January 30th, 1969 in Darlac Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Run over by Fork Lift at Ban Me Thout basecamp. At the time of his death Leon was 25 years of age. He was from Richmond, Virginia. Leon is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 33W, Line 18.

The decorations earned by PFC Leon Beard include: the Bronze Star, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.


Leon was fatally injured when hit by run away tow motor while moving supplies at Ban Me Thout basecamp.

Leon is buried in the Richmond National Cemetery, Plot 2-A6268
