The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC Leroy Wallace Weatherford, who died in the service of his country on August 24th, 1950 in South Korea. The cause of death was listed as Choked to Death. At the time of his death Leroy was 24 years of age. He was from El Monte, California.

The decorations earned by PFC Leroy Wallace Weatherford include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.


Private First Class Weatherford was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Company G, 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. on August 24, 1950, he suffered a laryngeal obstruction and died at Pusan, South Korea. Private First Class Weatherford was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
