SP-4 George Henry Chace, USA, son of Emerson Chace of New York and Mrs. Eva Chace Pineo of 66 Groton St., East Pepperell was killed in Vietnam on his 23rd birthday, 10/21/66. Spec. Chace, one of thirteen children, six whom served in the Army, attended Pepperell schools and prior to enlisting in the Army, worked for the Bemis Bag Company of Pepperell. Departing for Vietnam on 9/28/65, (another brother, Steven went to Vietnam before him), Spec. Chace was assigned to A, 2/35th Infantry. He died as a result of hostile ground action by the enemy at Pleiku.
