Summary: At 1435 hours 12 September 1968 an element from A Co 1/35 Inf discovered a bunker complex at grid coordinate ZA 182755. There were a total of about 25 bunkers about 1 month old, with 18 inches of overhead cover. The bunkers had been used about 24 hours prior to the A Co element discovery of them. There were latrine facilities at the bunker complex. The bunker complex was large enough to accommodate a company size force or larger. At 1810 hours SRP teams from A Co found a cache at grid ZA 180749. The unit found an unknown amount of rice, 100 rounds of SKS ammunition, rain jackets and trousers and rifle cleaning equipment. There were also some uniforms found. The tunnel complex and cache were found under a rice cache. At 2320 hours Recon Plt 1/35 Inf reported possible incoming 60mm mortar round. The round landed about 30-50 meters outside of the perimeter. Negative casualties reported, no further rounds reported.
