Summary: Log opened at 0001 hours 4 November 1968. Unit locations: At LZ Joan YA841251, Battalion Headquarters (Forward), B Company 1/35, B Battery 1/92 Artillery, E Company, Recon Platoon 1/35 Infantry, 4.2 Mortar platoon 1/35 Infantry, Counter Mortar Section 2/9 artillery; 1st Platoon D Co 4th Engineers Battalion, At LZ Jean YA809235; C Company 1/35, D Company 1/35, 1 CSF platoon from the Special Forces Camp at Duc Co, C Battery 2/9 Artillery, 1 AN/TPS-25 section from Division artillery; At LZ Vera YA835178, A Company 1/35 OPCON to 3/8 Infantry; At LZ Oasis; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward); At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear). From 0300 hours to 0425 hours reports from radar section and individual sightings on unidentified aircraft working within our A/O. Sightings were again reported starting at 1945 hours and continuing through 2300 hours. All sightings were reported to Bde, but no action was taken. At 0505 hours the radar section from LZ Jean reported a possible radio transmitter at grid YA771254, artillery (155mm) was employed from LZ Joan on that location. At 1330 hours a SRP team from Recon platoon reported finding what appeared to be the beginning of a 1 ship LZ at grid YA825279, trees and bamboo had been cut down on the southeast side of the LZ. The team found 8 foxholes 8 feet wide and four feet deep. They were approximately 24 hours old; they will keep this area under observation. At 1820 hours A Company from LZ Vera reported SRP team 1 made contact at 1340 hours with an estimated 5-6 individuals resulting in three friendly WIAs at grid YA806169. The team was extracted at 1600 hours and the wounded were Med-Evaced. Negative assessment of enemy losses, the team was returning to LZ Vera when they were fired on, artillery and light organics were employed.
