Summary: Log opened at 0001 hours 5 November 1968. Unit locations: At LZ Joan YA841251, Battalion Headquarters (Forward), B Company 1/35, B Battery 1/92 Artillery, E Company, Recon Platoon 1/35 Infantry, 4.2 Mortar platoon 1/35 Infantry, Counter Mortar Section 2/9 artillery; 1st Platoon D Co 4th Engineers Battalion, At LZ Jean YA809235; C Company 1/35, D Company 1/35, 1 CSF platoon from the Special Forces Camp at Duc Co, C Battery 2/9 Artillery, 1 AN/TPS-25 section from Division artillery; At LZ Vera YA835178, A Company 1/35 OPCON to 3/8 Infantry; At LZ Oasis; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward); At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear). During the reporting period the A/O was relatively quiet, only one (1) report of unidentified aircraft in the area, this was at 0300 hours by the Recon platoon. Reports of movement by the SRP teams were very slight for a 12-hour period. One report from SRP 2 of the Recon platoon reported hearing a vehicle at grid YA815275, artillery from LZ Joan was employed, negative assessment of the damage. The ADC (Assistant Division Commander) 4th Infantry Division visited LZ Joan for approximately 1/2 hour, this at 1500 hours. The ADC received a briefing and a tour of the firebase by the Battalion Commander LTC Buckner. No further significant activities occurred in our area of operation. All other routine matters were coordinated and handled by our staff.
