Unit locations: At LZ Joan YA842252, Battalion Headquarters (Forward), B Company 1/35, B Battery 1/92 Artillery, E Company, Recon Platoon 1/35 Infantry, 4.2 Mortar platoon 1/35 Infantry, Counter Mortar Section 2/9 artillery; 1st Platoon D Co 4th Engineers Battalion, Mobile Dental Clinic from the 4th Medical Battalion; At LZ Jean YA809234; C Company 1/35, D Company 1/35, 1 CSF platoon from the Special Forces Camp at Duc Co, 1 AN/TPS-25 section from Division artillery; At LZ Vera YA835178, A Company 1/35 OPCON to 3/8 Infantry; At LZ Oasis; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward); At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear). There was no significant activities in the 1/35 A/O. SRP team 14 from A Company which is OPCON to 3/8 at LZ Vera made contact with approximately 10 NVA resulting in 2 friendly KIA and 1 WIA. There was negative assessment on the extent of enemy casualties; action took place at 1700 hours 10 November 1968 at grid coordinate YA809173. At 2231 hours we received a message from the Brigade Commander Colonel McClellan: There have been several incidents in the last few days where unidentified personnel have evaded US forces when detected and ordered to halt. US forces have been reluctant to fire, henceforth these persons have been taking evasive action from US forces will be immediately engaged. No further activities occurred in the area of operation of significant interest. 2155 hours Read-out on a SRP contact: At 1700 hours at grid YA809173 A Co SRP 14 heading towards night location was ambushed by an estimated 10 NVA from the west and northwest. 2 KIA line no. 10 November roster Garcia, Jose; line no. 174 also November roster Abruzzese, Joseph, 1 WIA, line no. 106 of the October roster, Narvais, Richard, other line no. 82 Bannister, Danny. Team was extracted, 2 KIAs were left at the scene of the contact, negative enemy assessments.
