Summary: Log opened at 0001 hours 16 May 1969. Unit locations: At LZ Oasis grid ZA117277; Battalion Headquarters (Forward), 1/35th Command Post is at LZ Oasis ZA117277; A Company at YA982285; B Company at ZA139265; C Company at ZA048226; D Company at ZA060280; Recon platoon at ZA103257; 4.2 mortar platoon YA982285; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward) at LZ Oasis; At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear).

At 1045 hours on 16 May 69 C Company 2nd platoon saw 7 individuals with weapons vicinity grid ZA054234 (name of village is Plei Klow). They employed M-79 against the enemy who fled to the south. At 1103 hours on 16 May 69 C Company employed their light organics on the enemy and the 2nd platoon will sweep through the village. At 1230 hours on 16 May 69 C Company completed the cordon around the village vicinity ZA054234. At 1255 hours on 16 May 69 C Company found 4 holes and a tunnel complex under village located at ZA054234. At 1430 hour C Company also found 4 holes 4 to 5 feet deep with 3 foot apertures which contained 1 lighter (504 written on it), 2 large crocks of rice, 3 M-60 ammo cans filled with rice and corn, a few Montagnard shawls, two live chickens, NVA uniforms, 4 Montgnard baskets (empty), 3 tins of rice and assorted beans, 3 NVA utensils kits for eating, some copper and other metal used for making bracelets. At 1600 hours on 16 May 69 the sergeant of the guard found one Montgnard bowl, 1 blasting cap, Vietnamese propaganda leaflet and a C-4 detonator. All these items were evacuated to Brigade. At 2247 hours on 16 May 69 A Company 3d-platoon saw 20 enemy soldiers to the south of the Rock Quarry in the open. They are employing artillery at this time. At 2318 hours on 16 May 69 the report of the previous incident was given. The enemy was first seen 500 meters, next they were seen 150 meters out and in a treeline. At that time the 3d platoon of A Company employed M-79, M-16 fire against them. At 2350 hours B Company heard footsteps 50 to 100 meters to their left flank.

1045 hours (C) C Co to TOC: C Co 2nd plt has spotted 7 individuals with weapons at location ZA054234 in a village named Plei Klow. They used M-79 and individuals fled to the south. The 2nd plt lead is following them.

1345 hours (C) B Co - DustOff 30 is on station and it is complete at 1335 hours. At 1345 hours they report line #79 as a nervous breakdown.

1930 hours (C) From S3 to D Co: Have 1 plt ready for extraction now and your Co on standby for extraction to 965174 (Enemy hospital complex). 1/10 has contact.

1950 hours (C) From S3 to D Co: C/A has been cancelled tonight due to weather.

2012 hours (C) From S3 to D Co: Have your complete Co in a LZ NLT 0500 tomorrow and you will be picked up at 0505 hours.

2241 hours (C) D Co reports they hear S/A to north.

2247 hours (C) A Co element at Rock Quarry reports 20 VC/NVA in open. They are using redleg at this time and informed D Co of this.
