Summary: Log opened at 0001 hours 4 July 1969. Unit locations: At LZ Ruth ZA168528; Battalion Headquarters Support (S-4 Forward); A Company at ZA104534; B Company at ZA115505; C Company at ZA982285; D Company at ZA095524; Recon CP at ZA133565; 4.2" mortar platoon located at LZ Ruth ZA168285; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward) at LZ Oasis; At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear).

0835 hours (C) TOC to Pleiku: Dust-Off requested for priority infantry (2/35) individual shot, who shot himself in the toe - negative ETA at this time because of poor weather.

1021 hours (U) DELAYED ENTRY - On 4 July at 1010H from B Co to TOC: 23 (-) N/L ZA111499 received 3 rounds 82mm mortar 150 meters outside perimeter. Suspected tube location ZA111490 and redleg being planned and employed.

1045 hours (C) B Co to TOC: CP location ZA110507, my 21 element at ZA120505 found 15 bunkers 3' x 4' x 4' deep with overhead cover 2 to 3 feet, logs and dirt. 1 bunker a kitchen complex for 20 people, estimate 2 weeks old, bunkers will be destroyed.

1220 hours (C) A Co to TOC: ZA101533 we found 15 bunkers, 1 kitchen with 2 holes in ground for fires. All were 2 to 3 man with overhead cover 2 feet logs, dirt. No recent use. ZA106535 found 5 bunkers 3' x 3' x 5' 1 1/2 feet overhead cover logs, dirt, 1 foxhole 2 x 3 x 4 feet used during past week, 2 latrines.

1310 hours (C) 2/35 to TOC: Reference to individual shot, he was on OP, wrapped in his poncho liner with his weapon off safety - discharged hitting him in the toe.

1622 hours (U) DELAYED ENTRY - On 4 July at 1611H A Co to TOC: Found platoon size bunker complex at ZA107534, 9 bunkers, 20 foxholes, 2 feet overhead cover, 2 to 3 months old, mushrooms growing inside, 2 to 3 man positions, L-shaped, inside found 3 60mm mortar charges, sardine cans, Bulova watch (hot running stopped on 16th).

1800 hours (C) D Co to TOC: Received incoming at this time; ZA079538 Plei Ye Gran (2); 90 degrees azimuth from east sell 0953 or 0954; took 6 to 7 rounds 60mm mortar, rounds landed on edge of village. A Co heard tubes pop 250 degrees azimuth form 102546, Arty started to employ on 093538 and is begin moved to the east, 4 US wounded, 1 Montagnard wounded.

1825 hours (C) D Co requests Dust-Off for 4 US and 1 Montagnard, 2 litter, 2 ambulatory.

1920 hours (C) D Co incoming further readout: Reported now 5 US wounded, one serious and 1 Montagnard wounded; 1 hooch on south side of village took a direct hit and it and one other burned; rounds impacted south side village; Co just finished digging holes when hit, thought enemy were aiming at village to hit the company.

1921 hours (C) D Co line numbers on wounded: 139 minor head, 88 minor right shoulder and back, 83 serious left side chest, 131 minor left leg, these were dusted off; 95 minor head not dusted off.

1950 hours (C) Bde to TOC: Commanding General directs D Co 1/35 will break cordon immediately, establish new N/L, dig in and get overhead cover. D Co will depart new N/L prior to daylight for regular day operations.

2000 hours (C) D Co received 6 to 7 rounds 60mm mortar incoming also small arms. Trip flares went off on south, southwest and north sides, no enemy fire when trip flares went off, employed M79, grenades, Arty. B Co heard the tubes pop at 310 degrees azimuth 1.8 clicks from their location.

2137 hours (C) D Co started to move out from villages and received small arms fire from southeast and east - a few rounds
