Summary: Log opened at 0001 hours 20 April 1969. Unit locations: At LZ Oasis grid ZA114275; Battalion Headquarters (Forward), CP 1/35th At LZ Oasis; A Company at grid ZA091348; B Company at grid ZA084377; C Company at grid ZA087398; D Company at grid ZA122412; Recon platoon at grid ZA100345; 4.2 mortar platoon at LZ Oasis; Headquarters and Headquarters Company Support (S-4 Forward) at LZ Oasis; At Base Camp (Camp Enari); Battalion Headquarters (Rear).

At 0730 hours on 20 Apr 69 A Co found 2 bunkers with 2' overhead cover located 300meters north of the night location. The size was 4' x 3' x 8' and they were about 2 weeks old. At 1123 hours on 20 Apr 69 A Company 53 element had movement and fired an M-79 round at the movement 50 meters away resulting in one enlisted man #123 receiving a piece of shrapnel in his right wrist. He does not have to be evacuated. On 20 Apr 69 at 0759 hours A Company at ZA088357 found 68 bunkers with overhead cover of logs and dirt 3 to 4 feet thick. They also found 2 storage bunkers 5 x 8 x 5 empty, 4 82mm Mortar rounds, 2 82mm fuses, 1 B-40 Rocket neg. launcher, 38 AK rounds in a pouch, 1 US type smoke grenade, 1 VC/NVA type first aid pouch, 24 documents. A Company requested permission to blow all ammo found, rocket and mortar rounds. Bde says they can blow all ammo but bring back the first aid pouch and documents. At 1330 hours on 20 Apr 69 A Company at ZA092367 was taken under fire by 4 to 5 individuals. They were not sure of the type of fire and had negative casualties. At 1335 hours A Company broke contact and searched the area at that time. At 1438 hours on 20 Apr 69 A Company at ZA093368 found 2 B-40 rounds, 1 pack, 2 sandbags, 10 pounds of rice, one bag of rice VC/NVA type and 1 pair of blue civilian pants, also 1/2 of poncho and 1 canteen cup. At 1530 hours on 20 Apr 69 A Company at ZA093368 spotted one VC/NVA to the east 100 meters away. They employed small arms and M-79 fire. On 20 Apr 69 at 1629 hours A Company made a reference to the finding of the bunker complex. They were from 2 to 3 months old and used within the last 48 hours. At 1705 hours on 20 Apr 69 A Company received 2 to 3 rounds of sniper fire. They believed it to come from the east a long way out. The rounds were high and fired at the Company's location ZA093368. Reference to item #47: At 1758 hours on 20 Apr 69 there was 30 pounds of rice in the pack and that was counting 2 sandbags and one VC/NVA bag. Sweep of that area was completed at 1530 hours.

0823 hours (C) From D Co to TOC: Recon has linked up with D Co and they are at the village of Plei Poo Grang location ZA121411.

0835 hours (C) A Co reports hearing small arms fire at ZA099349 and saw a LOH overhead. They said he may have received ground to air fire.

0838 hours (C) Aloha 04 reports receiving ground to air fire coming back to Oasis with 2 people from B Co.

1005 hours (C) From Bde S-3: We want to send gunships out to ZA0999349 where the LOH received ground to air fire. S-3 says its clear to fire along as the coordinate is with A Co.

2024 hours (C) Plan Summary: A Co plans to CA from present location to ZA160396. B Co plans to continue to search and clear east. C Co plans to move and cordon and search village of Plei Poo Jal and to search and clear to 154410 southeast after leaving villages. D Co plans to cordon and search village ZA169400 and continue search and clear to the southeast.

2134 hours (C) S-3 to A Co: You will be air lifted tomorrow to vicinity of ZA160406 and then you will move to ZA164390, after that move to Bn assembly area. We require you to be in night location LZ at 0800 hours and also 2 ships at the LZ.
